 Hello Families,

This week we are continuing to work on and get used to new routines. Ms. Durnford and Ms. Rooke put on a great Welcome Back Assembly. New and old staff were introduced and it was a great way to start the year getting to gather all together in the gym.

Over the past week, everyone completed self-portrait art with focused on texture and the use of contrasting colours. The process stared by taking a picture then tracing facial lines with a black sharpie on clear plastic. Once that step was done, students created a textured background and chose contrasting colours to paint some of their facial features. In the end, we layered their backgrounds and portrait on the clear plastic. You can come see them during the open house!

Yesterday, students worked in groups to solve a Ted Ed. This challenged required trail and error, communication, knowledge of shapes and fraction, as well as perseverance. Linked below is the challenge. Ask to see how they solved the problem, what they found easier and/or difficult.

We also had an exciting announcement that we will be receiving a student teacher starting at the end of October!! We are all very excited to meet with her and work with her!
