 Happy Thursday!

This week in Math, we spent time looking into numeracy vocabulary and how it relates to each operation. We continue to develop our problem solving skills and being able to identify key words and terms is important when approaching a problem and deciding the first steps.

In Science, we began our weather and sky science units. We began collecting weather data from Calgary, AB and Calgary, TX to determine who has the better weather. Our next steps is to be able to graph this data in different ways to develop understanding of different ways data can be represented. In addition, students have been defining academic vocabulary associated with their science unit. They will have a matching assessment on Monday, where they will match the definition to the correct word.

In Health, we have been focusing on Fixed vs. Growth Mindsets and how that can contribute to how we approach challenges, support ourselves mentally, and persevere and stay motivated when things get hard. This has related to our goal setting and it is one of the strategies we are using to accomplish our goals.

During our Inquiry time, there has been a lot of work going into our Celebration of Learning with Ms. Adamson's class. We have been creating biographies about inspiring activists, and reflecting on our time at City Hall School. Our Celebration of Learning will be held on February, 10th and you are welcome to join us from 11:30 - 11:50.

In Social, Grade 5s have started exploring the physical Regions of Canada. They are going through the research process and will be working in groups to share their understanding later this month. Grade 6s have started they exploration into Athenian Democracy. They will be looking at the similarities and differences between Canada's and the Ancient Greek's democratic processes.

The Hitman Be Brave Game is on February, 22nd. Thank you to all the parents that offered their time to volunteer for this event. Forms have gone home, so please have them send back and signed by February, 9th.

Have a great weekend!
