 Hello Families,

We had a fantastic week in Room 16! It feels like everything has settled into place and everyone is used to the routines and expectations of the classroom.

In Math, we have been exploring patterns. The learning goal is to be able to use patterns to solve problems in a variety of ways. We reviewed identifying the pattern rule and how in addition increasing patterns you can find the difference to find the rule. Below is some of the work we did today. We have also been focusing on showing our thinking and providing evidence when giving an answer, not only in math but in all subjects.

We also learned about email writing, the structure, formality, and purpose. This included a subject, greeting, body/purpose, closing, and signature. This task focuses on word choice and demonstrates how it can effect the style of writing. Email writing focuses on making it brief, clear, and to the point.  Students practiced writing first in their workbooks then got to compose an email. We also discussed how your audience or recipient will determine how you write your email. They had a great time using their gmail accounts!

We have started our drafting for our art cards. Our art is inspired by Jen Aranyi. During the week we practice her style through 3 mini art lessons. They turned out BEAUTIFUL! We were all feeling like successful artists during each lessons. We can't wait until you see the finished product.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
